1. The Service
Dossier is a research-automation tool that aggregates information about named individuals from publicly available sources, news, public records, and licensed third-party APIs, and compiles it into a written report.
2. Permitted use
You may use the Service only for lawful purposes for which you have a legitimate basis, including:
- Journalism and editorial research on matters of public interest;
- Political opposition research and vetting of candidates for public office;
- Due diligence on public figures, executives, board members, or business counterparties;
- Compliance, fraud, or risk-management investigations for which your organization has a lawful basis.
3. Prohibited use
You must NOT use the Service to:
- Stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, or facilitate violence against any person;
- Build profiles of private individuals (non-public figures) without a lawful basis;
- Make consumer-eligibility decisions covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (credit, employment, insurance, housing, etc.) — the Service is not a consumer reporting agency;
- Violate any applicable privacy law, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, or similar regulations;
- Re-sell, redistribute, or commercially repackage dossier output beyond your internal use;
- Research minors;
- Discriminate against any individual on the basis of a protected characteristic.
4. Your representations
By submitting a target you represent and warrant that (a) you have a lawful purpose and legitimate basis for the research, (b) the research is not prohibited by applicable law in your jurisdiction or the target's, and (c) you accept sole responsibility for how the output is used.
5. Accuracy & no warranty
Dossier output is generated from third-party sources and AI summarization. It may contain errors, out-of-date information, or content from the wrong person. You are responsible for independently verifying anything you rely on. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind.
5a. AI-generated content disclaimer
Reports are synthesized by large language models, which can hallucinate, misattribute quotes, conflate individuals with the same name, or produce content that appears authoritative but is inaccurate. Treat every factual claim as a lead requiring independent verification against the cited primary source before publication, distribution, or any adverse action.
6. Payment
Research is billed on a per-dossier basis. Payment is non-refundable once research has commenced. If a dossier fails to generate due to a system error, we will issue a credit or refund at our discretion.
7. Data handling & retention
We retain dossier output and the inputs you provided so you can re-download them. You may request deletion of any dossier from your account. Targets of research may also contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of information held about them; we will respond as required by applicable law.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these terms, suspected misuse, or legal compulsion, with or without notice.
9. Contact
